The quest for luscious locks often means a pricey trip to the salon, but you can now create gorgeously-shiny hair at home with a few simple, homemade recipes using ingredients that most people have hidden away in their kitchen cupboards.
Banana hair mask
This sheen-boosting treatment is ideal for creating super-shiny hair ready for summer. Simply mash up one banana and mix it with one egg, three tablespoons of honey, three tablespoons of milk and five tablespoons of olive oil. Combine the mixture well and apply liberally to your hair. Leave the mask on for between 15 – 30 minutes and then wash out with a mild shampoo.
Olive oil hair mask
For a deep conditioning treatment that will leave your hair soft and silky-smooth, whisk together five tablespoons of olive oil with two eggs. Mix the ingredients together well and then massage the mixture into your hair, ensuring that you cover it from root to tip. Once fully applied cover your hair with a shower cap and leave for 30 minutes. Your body heat will ensure that the mask penetrates deep into the roots of your hair resulting in a deeply nourished finish. Once the treatment is complete, thoroughly rinse the mixture out of your hair using a gentle shampoo.
Milk and honey hair mask
This ultra simple hair mask is perfect for anyone looking to revitalise and strengthen dry, damaged hair. Firstly, mix a tablespoon of honey with half a cup of full fat milk. Apply this mixture to your hair, making sure you cover it well, and leave on for 15 minutes. You can then wash out the mixture using your favourite shampoo.
These easy to make hair masks cost a fraction of the salon prices and will leave you with healthy-looking hair that is almost certain to turn heads.
